Originally from the Midwest, Kay Fontana moved to the Bay Area in 1972 after spending several years at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and in Kansas City. She currently lives and works in San Jose, where she has a studio dedicated to painting, printmaking, and digital art.
She began her artistic career in 1980, exhibiting her work nationwide. After exhibiting at WORKS in San Jose, she joined the board of directors and served as chair of the Programming Committee for two years. Since then, she has continued to experiment with materials, using mixed-media collage, printmaking, and encaustic collage.
