She focuses on the climate emergency, sustainability, and the emotional connection between humans, animals, and the planet.
Fio Adamson is an eco-conscious artist based in London and a recent graduate of the Fine Art program at Wimbledon College of Art. Her artistic practice explores humanity’s connection to nature, climate change, and the Anthropocene, often using mixed media, found objects, and stitching to create works that are diverse, playful, or poignant.
She uses a wide range of materials, including hard/soft and natural/synthetic elements, often incorporating found objects and stitching. BEYOND THE WALLS is the title of the video created by Fio Adamson and Birte Pedersen during their residency in Santa Caterina di Nardò (Lecce). Camera: Philip Barwell, Editing: Katy Connor
“Arriving in Santa Caterina we learnt the story of Renata Fonte. Then by chance we found a pile of pine needles resembling a woman lying against a wall. We were inspired to create work together to commemorate her environmental activism and assassination. We wanted to honour her courage as well as the courage of women obliged to flee across the Mediterranean in the hope of reaching safety. ” (Fio Adamson).
