A land of striking contrasts, Salento is like an authentic open-air museum, made up of dreamlike landscapes, incredible nature, heavenly beaches, ancestral cultures, and an irresistible and authentic gastronomic offering.
Constellations: the awakening of the star feathers begins here in TORRE DELL’ORSO on the Adriatic coast of Salento, a place known as the pearl of Southern Italy for the incredible beauty of its seabed, the pine forest surrounding the sandy bay, the spectacular caves/grotto that preserve graffiti left by ancient navigators, and the ritual sites dedicated to the Great Mother.
In this new edition we want to talk to you about stars and cosmic magic. When summer envelops Salento in its golden embrace, the Milky Way is reflected in the sea. The wind smells of thyme and salt, and the sky is transformed into a huge natural planetarium. A light breeze, steeped in salt,
caresses the silvery olive trees and dances through the narrow streets of the villages, while the sky, infinite and full of stars, stretches out like a silk veil quilted with diamonds. It is in these suspended hours that the universe gives us its most sublime spectacle: the ephemeral flight of the Perseids, tears of light that streak across the darkness like sighs, fragments of an ancient celestial dance.
In the metaphor of navigation, the “star feathers” are the compasses or polar stars that guide navigation across the starry sky. In Salento in summer, you can see the constellations of the Summer Triangle (Lyra, Cygnus, Eagle) and Sagittarius, which points towards the centre of the Milky Way. In addition to the Big and Little Dippers, which can be seen all year round.
The residency project is an invitation to look beyond, to follow the winds, the stars, and the routes circumnavigating by land and sea like the ancient peoples who crossed these lands.
