Torre dell’Orso (Lecce)
Two weeks in the heart of Salento. Rituals, dances, songs, discoveries and deep listening.
It is said that before the stars found their place in the firmament, there were only feathers suspended in the void. They were fragments of primordial light, carrying ancient memories and future possibilities. When they began to vibrate, the sky ignited: the first constellations were born. In 2026, those feathers awaken once again along the shores of Torre dell’Orso during the fifth edition of the BAROQUE BLUE art residency with the project “Constellations: The Awakening of the Star Feathers”, guided by the visionary curatorship of Dores Sacquegna and organized by Primo Piano LivinGallery. The journey culminates on June 25 with “The Feather of Alliance”, a final ceremony celebrating the encounter between the artists, the land, and the transforming sky.
An Atlas of Light and Metamorphosis
“Constellations: The Awakening of the Star Feathers” is a journey along the subtle threshold between fragility and immensity. Each artist receives an archetype—a direction‑feather, a seed of vision that becomes compass, mirror, and promise. Their trajectories do not simply add up: they amplify one another, like waves recognizing themselves in the same sea. Torre dell’Orso becomes a symbolic harbor: the rock holds memory, the sea holds origin, the wind carries the message, the night reveals. It is a landscape that bears the memory of the sky. Here, the artists move like metamorphic stars, called to embody a gesture that is both intimate and cosmic.
Guiding the journey is Dores Sacquegna, in the role of cosmic cartographer. Together with Maria Maddalena Armenise, she activates the Feather of the Alliance, an echo of the North Star, marking the completion of the journey of the eight stellar feathers (the Feather of the Guardian, of the Sea, of Sound, of the Wayfarer, of the Oracle, of Silence, and of Fire). Feathers that become paths through the landscape, inspiring artists to create their works on site. An atlas of light that takes shape through gestures, presences, and contemporary art.
The Stars of the Journey
Seventeen artists/archetypes—nine international and eight from Apulia—compose a sky in motion. The international artists bring shifting visions, metamorphoses, thresholds, and fluid memories: they are the wandering stars, energies that traverse and open boundaries. They are
Nancy Barwell (The mobile border), Philip Barwell (The Architect of Time), Lark Pilinsky (The Dreamer), Laurence Vettes (The storyteller), Tatiana Yartseva (The Metamorphosis), Victoria Williamson (The flame), Julie Moss (The Healer), Amanda Keegan (The sentinel) e Karen Partridge (The liquid memory).
Artists from Apulia embody roots, matter, symbols, and depth. They are the fixed stars, the energies that sustain, structure, and ground, forming a “cosmic body” in harmony with the shifting trajectories of the international guests. They are Maria Maddalena Armenise (The guardian of the passage), Ugo Bordanza (The Armonizer), Claudio Rizzo (The Wanderer), Gabriella Marra (The Alchimist), Gianni Chiriatti (The son of the Earth), Alberto Nick Bolettieri (The Resonator), Daniela Cecere ( The quiet Light), and Claudio Longo (The visionary).

The Feather of Fire (June 24)
During the time of the Solstice, the Feather of Fire becomes a bridge between opposites: between light and shadow, between fervor and stillness, between the rising fire and the embracing water. In the symbolic dance between the sun and the moon, between fire and water, this archetype holds the mystery of cyclical rebirth, of the return to one’s luminous origin.
- Gathering herbs, preparing water, and performing the fire ritual on the night of St. John
The Feather of the Alliance (June 25)
The Feather that seals the journey: a feather that becomes a bridge, a sky that opens up. It is the culminating moment in which individual paths intertwine into a single luminous map.
